DESCRIPTION:

সুগন্ধি বাসমতি, মিনিকেট চালের মতোই এ ধানটি দেখতে সরু ও লম্বা।এক সময় দেশে বালাম চাল খুবই জনপ্রিয় ছিলো।
বালাম চাল ছিলো সরু ও সুদৃশ্য। ব্রি ধান-৬৩ ও ৫০ বালামের মতো সরু হওয়ায় একে সরু বালাম/ বাংলামতি হিসেবে অভিহিত করেছে বাংলাদেশ ধান গবেষণা ইন্সটিটিউট-ব্রি।

আমাদের বাংলামতি/ সরু বালাম/দেশী বাসমতি চালের বৈশিষ্ট্য

১/এই চাল ব্রি-৬৩ ও ৫০ ধান থেকে হয়।
২/ চাল হাস্কিং মিল বা ছোট হলার মেশিনে ভাঙানো হয়।
৩/ চালের ভাত ঝরঝরে, চিকন, লম্বা ও সুস্বাদু হয়।
৪/ চালের রঙ রান্নার আগে ও পরে সাদা থাকে।
৫/ চাল রান্নার পর কোন ঘ্রাণ থাকে না।
৬ /যেহেতু আমাদের চালে কোন কেমিক্যাল থাকেনা তাই দুই থেকে তিন মাস পর পোকা দেখা যেতে পারে।
৭/অনেকটা পাকিস্তানি বাসমতির মতো লম্বা, সুগন্ধ নেই, তবে চাল মূল্যবান ও ভাতের স্বাদ বেশি। চাল সরু, রান্নার পর লম্বায় ভাতের আকার বাড়ে।

আমাদের চাল কেন খাবেঃ–

আমাদের চালগুলো কোন কাটিং পলিশিং ছাড়াই বিক্রয় করা হয় তাই এই চাল ফাইবারযুক্ত। চালের উপরে ২ টা লেয়ার থাকে আ্যালুরন ও সাব আ্যালুরন যার মধ্যে বিভিন্ন পুষ্টিগুন বিদ্যমান থাকে যেমনঃ জিঙ্ক, মিনারেল, ভিটামিন-এ, ভিটামিন-ডি ইত্যাদি।
কাটিং পলিশিং করিনা বলে আমাদের চালে সকল পুষ্টিগুন বিদ্যমান।
